Date: June 10, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, today voted in favor of two resolutions, H.Con.Res. 89, expressing the sense of Congress that a carbon tax would be detrimental to the United States economy and H.Con.Res. 112, expressing the sense of Congress opposing the President's proposed $10 tax on every barrel of oil. Whitfield released the following statement upon passage:

"Time and time again, this Administration has overstepped its authority in pursuit of achieving President Obama's personal environmental legacy at the expense of hard-working Americans. These resolutions express Republican opposition to these extreme energy policies that will only increase costs on products and services we use every day and further hamper economic opportunity and growth."
